Multi-read content how to remove make up stains

All things that don’t belong in your clothes sometimes end up on your clothes and that’s why you should knowHow to remove stains?-Anythingcoffee stainsor onepermanent mark. But there’s something particularly nasty about makeup smudges. After all, makeup should make you look good, not a mess. But you can accidentally rub your face against your shirt while pulling it over your head, put foundation on your collar throughout the day, or drop your mascara while you’re applying it. You can also accidentally leave makeup on other people’s clothes when you hug or kiss. (Oops!) It looks awful in the moment, but if you know how to remove your makeup, those spots will disappear before you know it.

“In general, most makeup stains can be removed by working as quickly as possible and using a high-quality cleanser,” said Jennifer Ahoni, lead scientist at Tide. “That being said, different ingredients and makeup ingredients can create unique challenges.” For example, waterproof mascara may require a different stain remover than liquid foundation, which may also be treated differently than powder blush. And don’t forget the lipstick, it might be your toughest challenge in this area.

Here’s what you need to know about removing makeup from clothes. When you’re up to it, find outhow to remove nail polishof almost everything.

How to remove background layer from clothes

liquid foundation

Ahoni explains, “While there are different types of foundations, most are formulated with multiple pigments. “The main difference in processing a liquid base versus a powder is in the initial removal of any excess on the surface,” she says.

What do you need

  • Cleaning fluid
  • Dishwasher soap
  • Cloth or clean rag
  • Drink water

Step by step instructions

  1. Remove excess from the surface of the fabric with a paper towel or clean cloth, being careful not to push the liquid deeper into the fibers. Dab, do not rub.
  2. Then, rinse the garment in lukewarm water to dilute the stain.
  3. Once the excess basecoat has been removed, pre-treat the stain with liquid laundry detergent (any type will do), along with surfactants and enzymes to dissolve the stain. Pour the right amount of detergent onto the clothes to cover the stain, use a soft-bristled toothbrush to gently rub the detergent into the stain, and let the detergent stay on the fabric for 20 minutes.
  4. Some liquid foundation stains may actually look like grease stains because the makeup base is oily. Therefore, you can also use dish soap to remove stains. Apply a small amount of dish soap, such as
  5. Dawn
  6. , rub the stain with your fingers and leave for about 20 minutes.
  7. Do not rinse out detergent or dish soap, put clothes in the washing machine with other items. “Leaving detergent on the stain will help your laundry increase the amount of cleaning water,” says Ahoni. Wash at the hottest temperature recommended on the care label, as warm water helps remove stains.
  8. If stain persists, repeat steps 3-5 before drying.

The above techniques work best on cotton and multi-blend fabrics. If the stain is on a fabric like silk or wool, it’s best to take the garment to a dry cleaner. You could be doing more harm than good if you try to remove the stain yourself.

Foundation

Ahoni says that because foundation contains loose particles, be very careful when removing any excess from the surface of the fabric. You want to make sure you don’t accidentally drench the stain or spill the powder.

What do you need

  • Clean rag or cloth
  • Cleaning fluid
  • Drink water

Step by step instructions

  1. First, shake off as much foundation as you can. Ahoni advises, “Gently brush away any residue, being careful not to press the foundation into the fabric.
  2. Run lukewarm water over the back of the stain. The higher the water pressure, the easier it is to remove. Once the residue is removed, you will use the same general washing principles as for liquid foundation.
  3. Pretreat stains with liquid laundry detergent, just enough to cover the stain. Gently rub the cleaner into the stain with a soft-bristled toothbrush and let the cleaner sit on the fabric for 20 minutes.
  4. Do not rinse out detergent, put clothes in the washing machine with other items, wash at the hottest temperature recommended on the care label.
  5. If stains persist, repeat steps 3 and 4 before drying.

FYI, you won’t want to use lukewarm water on other types of stains, likeblood spotsandmustard stains, as this could cause the stain to close and prevent it from coming out. Make sure you know what to do, depending on the stain you’re dealing with, before you dive in.

How to remove lipstick from clothes?

Lipstick is one of the hardest makeups to remove. Why? Because these beauty products are often oil-based. “Lipstick is similar to a solid grease, which acts like a glue to hold multiple color pigments together,” Ahoni explains. “These pigments are particularly attracted to synthetic fibers.” (Incidentally, this is something you’ll also want to keep in mind when trying to do this.)oil stainsyour clothes.) The key to dealing with lipstick stains is to act quickly, but even if your stain has taken a while, you’re still out of luck. Follow these steps, which can also be used to remove ChapStick or any other lip balm from clothing.

What do you need

  • clean clothes
  • Dishwasher soap
  • Cleaning fluid
  • Spoon or butter knife
  • To erase
  • Drink water

Step by step instructions

  1. Blot excess clothing before placing a clean, dry cloth over the lipstick stain.
  2. For heavy lipstick stains, first place the garment in the freezer for 20 minutes. Then gently scrape off the excess gel with a spatula or butter knife before placing the cloth over the stain.
  3. Then, soak a damp cloth in dish soap and dab it on the back of the stain. Be sure to use a clean cloth each time so you don’t accidentally transfer the lipstick back onto your clothes.
  4. Rinse the area with warm water to dilute the stain.
  5. Pretreatment with detergent. Pour the right amount of detergent onto the clothes to cover the stain, use a soft-bristled toothbrush to gently rub the detergent into the stain, and let the detergent stay on the fabric for 20 minutes.
  6. Without rinsing the laundry, put the clothes in the washing machine with the other items, using the hottest temperature recommended for the item on the care label.

For waterproof makeup stains, you can even try using an oil-free makeup remover to pre-treat it. Alternatively, use these Ahoni instructions to remove mascara and eyeliner from your clothes.
