Multi-read content how to attach bathroom sink to countertop

This DIY guide shows how to install an automatic undermount sink in a bathroom, with sample manufacturer’s instructions for using the hole and mounting the sink to the top cabinet.

A bathroom sink that has a raised lip above the counter is called a self-dividing sink.

Fortunately for those who prefer to do it themselves, installing an automatic undermount sink in the bathroom is a relatively easy task.

If you are installing a self-lined sink on a new counter, you will need to drill a hole for the bowl.

Note that the instructions given here are for drilling holes in the wood vanity top. How you cut the hole in your counter will depend on the material of the counter. For some materials, like stone or glass, it’s best to have the holes made by a professional unless you have the necessary skills and tools. The free-standing sink fits elegantly above this small vanity. © Karamych / Shutterstock.com

Luckily, almost all rimmed sinks have a pattern that you can use to mark the exact size and shape of that hole in the counter. Simply follow the instructions on the form.

On a small vanity, it is best to place a sink in the middle from side to side and front to back.

A set of double sinks are usually spaced evenly across the counter.

first Use sink manufacturer’s sampleto mark the cut on the table. If no template is provided, create your own. Place the bowl upside down on a piece of paper and mark around the edge of the sink. Remove the sink, then draw a second line about 3/4 inch inside the first and cut along this line to create your pattern.Place the sample on the table.

2 For a wooden counter like this,Drill a starting hole 3/8 inch inside the cut line and use a hacksaw (saw saw) to cut along the cut.

To prevent the cut from bouncing on the counter when you’re done cutting, cut about 2/3 of the way. Then screw a piece of shredded cardboard onto the surface cutter as shown below and complete the cut.

Man cutting a hole in the top of the countertop with a jig saw.Cut out the area with a jigsaw. Note that the scrap board is already screwed into the cut, this will secure it so it won’t break when you’re done with the cut.

3 Put a bead of plumber’s puttyaround the bottom edge of the drain assembly cover. Then, insert the housing into the drain hole, assembled according to the manufacturer’s instructions. Press it into the plumber’s putty.

Under the sink, add the necessary washers and washers, then tighten the lock. To prevent the case from rotating while you tighten the lock, you can hold the handles of a pair of pliers in the case with a screwdriver.

Remove any excess plumber’s putty. Secure the rear section to the housing using the slip nut and washer.Seal the exhaust assembly and the tail piece.

4 If you haven’t done so yet, installing the faucet.Once the faucet is in place, turn the sink upside down and sweep a bead of silicone sealant along the underside of the molded lip (adhesive is included with some sinks).
