Have you ever seen someone wear a plain white t-shirt or sparkly white pants and wish your clothes looked like that? Ditto will get your sheets and towels. Well, now your laundry can be spectacular with these tips from cleaning expert Linda Cobb, clean queen. These tips not only keep skin white, Cobb says, but can also make dirty clothes look like new.

first

Separate your colors

Linda Cobb, author of 9 books includingDirty Talk à la Clean Queen.”Even light colors can turn white, so create a pile of white clothes only, no exceptions, then wash light clothes with their own weight.”

2

Do not use too much detergent

We all believe that the more detergent we use, the cleaner our clothes will be. But that’s not the case at all. “Too much detergent and fabric softener will damage fabrics,” says Cobb. “When there’s a lot of dirt on clothes, it acts like a magnet and sticks to the dirt.”

You read that right: too much detergent can actually make clothes dirtier. And no matter how much detergent you use, make sure that volume is always rinsed out.

3

Consider optical brighteners

Also known as “blue dyes,” these products add a hint of blue to yellowish or dull whites. Since yellow and blue are two complementary colors, the products help to make the color whiter.

“You can useMrs. Stewart’s Liquid Blhering, works great,” Cobb said, “but follow the instructions. You can’t pour it directly on clothes or put it in the machine’s detergent drawer, or the machine will pick it up.” Cobb keeps a jar of food clean in her laundry room to mix laundry detergent with water, then add the mixture to her laundry.

4

Dry clothes on low heat

Cobb says the heat can scorch or burn fabrics, causing them to turn yellow. She suggests always following the drying instructions on the label. Really. Also consider using a lower heat setting and taking clothes out of the dryer while they are still slightly damp.

5

Only use bleach on cotton

“Bleach can be harmful to some fabrics,” says Cobb. Although you think it will be white, it may turn white yellow or gray. “BleachSuitable for cotton socks, underwear and towels, but not multi-fiber blends. “

6

Try the lemonade

Lemon juice is a natural bleaching agent and works great on white clothes. Cobb recommends using the hottest water safe for fabric and mixing in half a cup of lemon juice. “Then soak the clothes for an hour or overnight and wash them as usual the next day.”

7

No more soldering

“BoraxCobb says: soften hard water, remove residue and improve detergent quality. “The product is completely natural and safe to use, and has a very good effect on skin whitening.” Follow the box instructions.

Another household item to try:White vinegar, which works like lemonade. Cobb suggests adding 1/4 to 1/2 cup of white vinegar to a load of laundry, then washing as usual. One household item that Cobb asked to stay away from: ammonia. “It’s very alkaline, too harsh on fabrics and if you use it with bleach it can be dangerous to your health.”

8

Try Automatic Dishwasher Detergent

Yes, you read that right: dishwasher detergent. “It’s a really good brightener and cleanser, which is great for things like baby socks and underwear,” says Cobb. She said not to worry too much about the brand – any brand will do. Add a few tablespoons to a few gallons of water and wash clothes.

9

Hydrogen peroxide

“Hydrogen peroxideIt’s 100% natural and you can make a great melasma remover out of it,” says Cobb. Mix one part Dawn Original or Dawn Ultra dishwashing liquid (it should be one of those, not the other Dawn product, Cobb says) and two partshydrogen peroxide. Then, apply this mixture to the collar, armpits, or any hard-to-remove spot on your clothes.

You can even store the mixture in a dropper for easy access. Another tip: Mix 1/2 cup of hydrogen peroxide with 1/2 cup of baking soda and 1 cup of water and use it on spots and stains.

Ten

White Brite

If you don’t want to make your own bleacher, Cobb’s favorite:White Brite. “It removes yellow spots, yellowing and even rust. You can also use it on colored clothes,” she says. “A little goes a long way.”
