If you've got 5 minutes, you'll love this quick and easy solution to remove pilling from your favorite outfit. This smart DIY hack will save you big bucks!

Well, the photo below shows what a pair of my used leggings looks like. And I wore them. A lot of. These are maternity pants that are NOT CHEAP, but feel cheap after a couple wears them. Pilling begins almost immediately. But I continue to wear them… because while working well at home every day, I have sometimes worn them much less well.

I told Joe, my husband, how disappointed I was that those expensive maternity pants got ruined after wearing them a few times and he laughed and said, “I think that’s what it’s all about.” ‘they should look like. how.’

Glad to tell you that I was able to find a solution that doesn’t involve throwing money away. Yes, you can remove the pilling yourself! But as I near the end of my pregnancy, I blame myself for wearing those expensive tasseled pants for so long without fixing them sooner. Especially considering that the repair took me all of 5 minutes.

Remove pilling

The first thing I did was iron my pants. Even if it’s not necessary, I’m a little afraid thatto shaveMy pants will rip the fabric. Well, that’s not a problem after all, but I’m kind of “better than sorry”.

Save the right razors for your feet. Serious. Avoid fancy stuff that has a wet strip or bar of soap on the side (this will actually cause more clumping than it will remove). An inexpensive, no-frills razor will work best. Just make sure it is new sharp.

Use one hand to stretch the fabric and gently scrape each section. This will prevent you from cutting through the garment.

When the razor is full (and runs out quickly!), wipe it off with a paper towel. This mound is just the beginning!

I find it easier to place my helmet on a hard surface when scratching it instead of using carpet.

Now not all the clumps stick to the razor, so I also rolled a lint roller over the coats to pick up the rest.

Depending on the level of pilling, it will take you about a minute to return your hat to its original condition. Do as I say and don’t do as I do…. Don’t wait too long to tackle this project after watching your clothes scale!

Prevent spills

Although this is a pretty simple little project, it’s best to try to avoid pilling in the first place:

  • Turn your clothes inside out before washing and drying them.
  • Water-based detergents are gentler on clothes, as well as using the gentle cycle (duh)!
  • Whenever possible, dry your clothes instead of using the dryer. The dryer is a large pile threshing equipment.
  • Make sure you don’t overload your washing machine. Overstuffed clothing impedes movement and damages the surface.

May your expensive clothes continue to look like CASH and hope the deposit never goes out of fashion!
