Sea Foam motor treatment

Over time, the inside of your engine becomes clogged with all sorts of nasty things. Inside the crankcase where there is oil, varnish and tar build up on the surfaces of the pistons, washers, tappets and in the oil chambers which supply oil to all the components. This reduces the engine’s ability to self-cool and lubricate, reducing engine performance, efficiency and life.

The same buildup occurs inside the fuel system, clogging injectors or carburetor nozzles, clogging intake valves and also on top of pistons. If the valves do not move freely, engine breathing is severely hampered. Carbon deposits on pistons and valves can lead to hot spots that cause detonation, reducing your engine’s performance. Carbon can also build up in places along the engine’s intake manifold, reducing airflow and turbulence. The trick is how do you clean those hard to reach places in your engine? Almost all engines, from 2-stroke lawn mowers, boat engines to large diesel engines, suffer from the same problem.

Cleaner is better

Sea Foam has been around for over 70 years and is one of the most trusted treatments for all engines. While Sea Foam manufactures a wide range of products, the main product isTreat the engine with a sponge. Sea Foam is specially formulated to slowly and safely regenerate gum, residue, varnish and carbon deposits from hard engine parts so they can be flushed out of the system.

Sea Foam helps lubricate moving parts, especially in the fuel system. The ethanol additive dries out the washers and leaves a shiny finish that makes it more difficult for the parts to be lubricated with oil. Removing this varnish will return the engine to normal operation. Inside the fuel tank, the sea foam absorbs the water, allowing it to ignite without problems in the combustion chamber.

How to use the sponge

When deciding how to useTreat the engine with a spongeThere are three options: in the crankcase, in the fuel tank and in the diesel fuel filter. To clean the upper end, useSponge sprayas indicated.

In the storage box

When added to oil, Sea Foam cleans dirt, lifts engine noise and removes oil polish. 16 liters of oil can be treated, so you can treat twice in one can for most vehicles. The best method is to add the treatment 500 to 1,000 miles before your next oil change, then add the rest after changing the oil. This will help remove a lot of shine and residue, and a second treatment will keep everything clean.

Pour up to 1 ounce of Sea Foam per quart of oil into the engine. We used about ½ of the bottle.Pour up to 1 ounce of sponge per liter of oil in the engine. We used about ½ bottle.

In the fuel tank

One person can handle up to 16 gallons of fuel. This will remove deposits on the fuel pump, injectors or injectors, control moisture and stabilize the fuel. In diesel engines, it is de-icing and has anti-gelling properties.

One bottle treats up to 16 gallons of fuel. We poured in 1/2 of the bottle to make this a one-bottle job.One bottle treats up to 16 gallons of fuel. We poured 1/2 of the bottle to turn this work into a bottle.

At the top

To clean carbon deposits from air intake systems, intake valves and combustion chambers inside engines, including GDI engines, Sea Foam recommends using Engine Cleaner & Lubricant Sea Foam Spray Top (Part).

Such treatments may seem complicated, but with a little preparation, you can do them yourself and restore your vehicle’s power and performance. If you have any concerns, visit your local NAPA Auto Parts Store or NAPA Auto Care Center.

This video gives my take (opinion) on the world famous Sea Foam combustion engine treatment additive. Often people reach for Sea Foam when something goes wrong with their car. They believe flushing the motor out with Sea Foam will fix it. Not likely, especially with a well maintained vehicle.

This aggressive motor treatment can flush unwanted deposits, crud, buildup from the inside of your motor or fuel system. It will not fix broken parts.
