Multi-read content how to reuse plastic

Omnipresent in our daily lives for many years, plastic has also become ubiquitous in our environment. You can see plastic bottles, bags, straws and more washing up on our shores and in our rivers, lakes and streams. And that’s just the plastic you can see. Plastic is made to last forever, and it is. However, 33% of all plastic is used once and thrown away.

Plastic doesn’t biodegrade, it just breaks down into smaller and smaller pieces. The toxic chemicals released by plastic enter the environment, our food supply, and ultimately us. Reducing single-use plastics is one of the biggest environmental challenges of our time.

Tips for using less plastic

It may seem like a daunting task, but there are things you can do to reduce your plastic use. Even small actions add up over time and have a big impact. Throwing plastic waste into the environment is one way to be useful, another way is to use less plastic, so it ends up getting out of our oceans and our environment in the first place.

A lot ofsustainable brandWe look for ways to reuse plastic and avoid pollution, but we can also help by reducing and reusing everyday plastic items. In addition to turning plastic bottles into shirts, if you send us old swimsuits – any brand, not just ours – we’ll recycle them.

How to reduce the use of plastic

Replace items like straws, cups, and bags with reusable options. Bring reusable straws to restaurants. There are many that come with carrying cases, so you can transport them safely.

Use your own travel mug, mug or thermos when having a soft drink or coffee. Even paper cups for soft drinks or coffee are lined with soft plastic inside, so you should avoid using them.

Instead of plastic, use biodegradable or reusable cutlery. Some are made from bamboo that you can wash and reuse. You can also find some in biodegradable materials that you can mix or compost.

When shopping, bring your own bags, including bags for bulk produce, and avoid the provided plastic bags and prepackaged vegetables.

In general, choose packaging made of glass, paper or cardboard rather than plastic. Paper and most cardboard are biodegradable or recyclable, as are glass containers.
