Multi-read content how to organize bakeware

Welcome to day 14 of my month long streak”How to organize your kitchen legally in 31 days”. Every day in October, I will share an organized space in my kitchen with you. My goal is to inspire you and give you ideas on how you can organize your kitchen.

If you missed it, you might want to read itWhy am I adopting my old-fashioned kitchen? This might give you a little insight into why my kitchen organization photos wouldn’t be considered “magazine worthy” but are useful for real life organization. .

How to Organize Your Kitchen FrugallyToday I show you how I organize cookie sheets, baking pans, regular and small muffin pans and stoneware.

How to Cheaply Organize Baking Pans, Muffin Tins, Cookie Sheets, and More

I usually keep my cookie sheets and stoneware in the drawer under my oven. But it’s always been a pain to unlock them every time I need a pan.

As this drawer was not very deep, I had to put my baking tools and my muffin pan in the back of another cabinet, which was not ideal. I like to keep them all in one place near my oven (in my cooking area).

Oranizing Baking Pans

Then one day I had an idea. I realized that the little cupboard near my dining room door was a forgotten place. I’ve used it to store large vases and a few things that I obviously don’t use very often. After cleaning it up and rearranging it a bit, I found a solution that really works!

****Note: Some of this solution may not work for you, especially if you have nice new cabinets. I don’t, so I’m not too worried about “ruining” them if my plan doesn’t work out. My goal in sharing this is to give you some ideas that might work for you.

The first thing to do when organizing your space is to get rid of things you don’t need. I removed my kettle from the drawer next to the oven and my cooking area as it is not necessary to use it right next to the oven. Then I put my big pots in a drawer. That’s it! Empty cabinet, ready to organize.

I found this cookie sheet organizer at a thrift store for about $1 and it fits perfectly in this cramped cabinet. You can find asimilar organizershere (affiliate link).

Cookie Sheet Organization

This is the part that may or may not work for you. I want to store my molds next to them in this “new” sorter, but the existing price in this cabinet is too low. Instead of reducing the price, I decided to put it in our garage just in case I didn’t like the idea after living with it for a while. Guess it’s time to get rid of it, because it’s been working great for months now. I wish I had done this sooner!

I had my husband cut me a “shelf” out of plywood. It wasn’t the best view, but it was hidden in that little closet, so no one saw it but me.

Making a Shelf for Organizing Bakeware

I don’t want the rack to go all the way to the front of the cabinet so I can slide out my baking pan more easily. We used scrap wood for the brackets and bolted them to the existing cabinet.

DIY Cabinet Shelf

When we made the rack, I purposely made it shallow, but still deep enough to hold my 9 x 13 metal pan and muffin pan. These aren’t pans I use every day, but they’re easy to get whenever I need them!

Organizing Bakeware

I didn’t want to screw the sorter into the floor of my cabinet, so I just placed it near the front. It works very well. The weight of all the pans keeps it in place even when I pull one out. I also discovered a cool little place to store the giant cutting board that I usually use once.

Muffin Pan Organization

If you have stone utensils, you will understand why my frying pan looks so “dirty”. They’re not dirty – just seasoned (a.k.a.love).😉 You also have to store the stone on its side to prevent it from cracking because it is very heavy.

I now have a super functional and easy to access storage cabinet for my baking dish. And the best part is that the whole project is almost free!
