How to Make Your Own Threshold Piece for Hardwood Flooring

You. i have something realreallyshame about the show and tell today. You know those bad things in your life (and home!) that you’re about to stop seeing? Do they keep getting ignored or are they on your to-do list that you know you need to do but haven’t?

It’s correct. I have a lot. It’s been at the top of this list since we moved into our home almost 7 years ago!!!

DIY Threshold Pieces-1-5

It’s a ditch to catch all the treasures. Hi! This is the super sticky beanie I was looking for!!

Before judging me too harshly, let me explain.

Synopsis: When we moved into our house, it really was like the skin of our teeth. We replaced the carpet with a discontinued wood (exactly this type of wood). When we bought it they didn’t have the sill pieces available so we didn’t buy them (because we thought we wanted the color to match the stain and add something else). It never happened. Fast forward to a few months before buying the same flooring which, after 5 years, is no longer produced. Yay!! We used it in the baby’s room and like a fool I completely ignored the order thresholds. GET OUT!!! But then, because we had been living with the disease for so long and were immune to it, I quickly forgot about it. Until last week.

The court was clearly pushed to the limit to get the shit out of our lives and start messing around on the table saw.

This was as much an experiment as it was a finishing touch. When we had the kitchen floor tiled after I fitted it all that time ago, I finally got around to putting the thresholds in. I decided to use a scrap of Poplar just to see how it holds up. Seems to be doing all right so far. It’ll be interesting to see. I didn’t realise that these were also called T-bars and transitions or Room transitions in some parts of the world. I had heard them called reducers though
