The salicylic acid in aspirin not only helps relieve headaches, it can also help lighten tissue, but you’ll need to take more than two. To bleach clothes, you will need at least 10 aspirin tablets per gallon of hot water. This method works best on 100% cotton fabrics.

Bring a gallon of water to a boil, then add the aspirin tablets and stir until dissolved. Remove the pan from the heat and add the cotton cloth. Do not put too many pots! Let the fabric soak until the water cools completely, then wash as usual.

If your whites aren’t as bright as you’d like, follow these steps to get your clothes to look brand spankin’ new.

Step 1: Use soap or detergent

Wash your whites in hot water on a heavy-duty setting, using a soap or detergent.

Step 2: Add bleach

Add bleach to the cycle before throwing in the clothes, but read the tags on the garments to make sure the bleach won’t damage them.

Tip

Hard water can discolor white clothes; adding vinegar or a water softener to your rinse cycle will soften the water.

Step 3: Add baking soda

Add baking soda if clothes still aren’t as white as you’d like. Baking soda aids in water softening, making the clothing whiter.

Step 4: Add lemon juice

Add lemon juice to a medium wash rinse cycle if the clothes still aren’t white. Now wear that white T-shirt like you just bought it.

Did You Know?

In 1913, the U.S. Navy became the first branch of the military to wear the T-shirt under their uniforms.

How to get clothes white again. Do you struggle with stains on your white shirts? Dingy whites are the worst! Bleaching white clothes can be hard to do if you don’t know the easy steps. My daughter has to wear white shirts to school (uniform) and most of the kid’s shirts look grayish. Not hers! Same with white socks and towels.
