Multi-read content what cleaning products kill mold

(posted by Kory Cantor)

If you find mold in your home and are worried about the hundreds of dollars you may have to spend to get rid of this sneaky fungus, then you’ve come to the right place!

Mold can be easily treated without having to spend a lot of money. You just need a few household products and some rags, brushes and cleaning cloths. Plus, if you order free samples online, you can say goodbye to free mold!

Here are five popular household products you can use to remove all traces of mold from your home.

Bleach

Bleach is a powerful cleaner and can kill most microorganisms. As such, it is excellent for use on hard, non-porous surfaces.

Simply mix 1 part bleach with 16 parts water. Dip a clean cloth in this solution and wipe down hard surfaces. You can also fill a spray bottle with this solution and spray it on surfaces. Leave the solution on the surface for about 5 minutes, then scrub the mold clean.

Note that for porous surfaces, bleach will only be able to remove surface mold. Since the mold will also appear inside the pores of the material, it will grow back to the surface for some time.

Also, bleach is harmful to the skin and lungs, so you will need to be very careful when using it. Be sure to use bleach only in well-ventilated areas. Also avoid mixing bleach with other household cleaners, as this may release toxic gases.

The vinegar

Distilled white vinegar is a natural, non-toxic alternative to bleach and other harsh chemicals. It can effectively remove mold on its own and can also be used with baking soda and hydrogen peroxide if you want a stronger cleaning solution.

Pour vinegar into a spray bottle and spray on moldy areas. Let it sit for an hour, then wipe it off with a damp cloth. The vinegar will give your home a strange smell, but the smell should go away after a few hours. You can also mix vinegar and water in equal proportions and use it to remove mold from surfaces.

Vinegar can also be used on porous surfaces. Remember to wipe off promptly when using on marble and granite, as vinegar can corrode the surface and cause these stones to discolor. Do not use vinegar on wood.

Baking soda

This mildly abrasive natural cleaner should be your first choice if you have kids and pets running around the house because it’s completely non-toxic. It not only removes mildew, but also removes odors and mildew.

Use equal amounts of baking soda and water to make a paste. Apply the mixture to the moldy areas and let it dry. Then scrub with a brush and clean the area with a damp cloth.

Pour a solution of 2 tablespoons of baking soda and 2 cups of water into a spray bottle. Spray this solution lightly on a flat surface and allow to air dry to limit future mold growth.

Adding vinegar to a solution of baking soda and water will be more effective in fighting hard mold. Use lukewarm water for easier cleaning.

Borax

Borax is another natural ingredient that can help you fight mold effectively. Borax has antiseptic and deodorizing properties, making it a good fungicide, herbicide, and cleaning agent. Although it does not emit toxic fumes, be careful with soldering; Ingesting it may be harmful.

To remove mold, mix a cup of borax with a gallon of water and spray the solution on moldy surfaces. Scrub the area with a rag or brush. Thoroughly wipe or vacuum any debris.

Let the surface air dry. Do not rinse, as borax can inhibit mold growth by acting as a disinfectant.

If you’re using vinegar with borax, make a solution of 1/2 cup vinegar, 1/4 cup borax, and a quart of warm water. Spray this solution on the hard mold and brush with a brush. Wipe with a damp cloth and repeat if necessary.

tea tree oil

Although tea tree oil has a ton of health benefits, it also has various uses in your home as a cleaning agent due to its antibacterial and antifungal properties. Not only is it effective in removing mold and disinfecting surfaces, but it is also a natural product.

Pour a solution of 2 cups of warm water and 2 teaspoons of tea tree oil into a spray bottle. Spray this solution on the affected areas and leave it on for about an hour. Spray the solution again and scrub the mold with a brush. Clean with a damp cloth.

Lightly spray the solution again on the surface and let it air dry. This will prevent mold from coming back.

Conclusion

Mold isn’t just a problem for people with asthma or allergies. Mold is a major contributor to indoor air pollution and can make you very sick. It is important to remove it as soon as you see the first signs of infestation.

Although a professional mold remediation specialist can do the job thoroughly, bidding for mold advertising doesn’t always cost you a fortune. With the information provided here, you can treat mold yourself using these popular household cleaners.

If you’re doing general cleaning, all-purpose cleaner is a good call. But a specialty job, like cleaning mold or mildew, will require a specialty product. “When you’re cleaning mold and mildew, think about what’s going to deal with the problem at hand—it’s not soap and water,” Maker says.

How do professionals remove mold?

Mold professionals use expensive, professional equipment such as HEPA (High Efficiency Particulate Air) air scrubbers, HEPA vacuums, commercial-strength dehumidifiers, etc. Regular handymen won’t have that stuff. Some mold remediation companies also do restoration work, just like a general contractor.

Can I remove black mold myself?

Homeowners can handle cleaning about 10 square feet (roughly 3 feet by 3 feet) of black mold on their own. If the patch is small enough, a combination of bleach, water, scrubbing, and ventilation should do the trick. Before treating mold on your own, prioritize ventilation and protective gear.

What does harmful black mold look like?

Toxic mold can also have a grayish, soot-like texture, or a slimy, wet surface. In some cases, you may even notice furry orange or brown spots.

Do mold bomb foggers really work?

Mold foggers do work, but their role in mold remediation is a minor one. If your goal is to stop any lingering mold spores from taking hold and get rid of musty odors, fogging is worth the effort. Even so, it should be the last step in your mold removal process.

Can I stay in my house with black mold?

Because of the risks that come with mold exposure, it can be unsafe to sleep in a house with mold, particularly in the affected areas because you put yourself at risk of mold allergies. This becomes especially concerning if you are sensitive to the mold.
